Kyle Matthees is a trumpet player specializing in remote session recording and live performance. His work is centered on clean, musically intentional trumpet playing that fits naturally into a score, production, or live ensemble setting.As a remote session musician, Kyle records solo and section-style trumpet for film, animation, video games, commercial music, and other cue-based projects. His playing can be heard on Netflix’s The Sneetches, in projects with Blue Phoenix Filmworks and Nickelodeon, and on releases by artists including Vansire, Carmen Marie, and Kirsten Arian. He works from a professional home studio and is known for fast turnaround, strong reading, and mix-ready delivery.As a live performer, Kyle’s experience spans symphonic, chamber, and commercial settings. He has performed at the International Trumpet Guild Conference and the National Trumpet Competition, and with ensembles including the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, Mobile Symphony Orchestra, and Mississippi Gulf Coast Symphony. That range of experience informs the way he approaches both recording and live playing: with versatility, musical judgment, and a strong sense of stylistic fit.Kyle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of North Dakota and a Master’s degree from Belmont University, and he is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Southern Mississippi. Alongside his playing career, his research has appeared in the International Trumpet Guild Journal.
